Day One: Cal Black Media at Democratic National Convention ‘08
August 25th, 2008There is a celebration going on in Denver! African-American attendees, whether they originally supported Obama or Clinton, realize the historic significance of this convention. As we await Obama’s acceptance speech on Thursday, the 45th anniversary of King’s ‘I Have a Dream Speech,’ we can’t help but take stock on just how far we have come. We know this is not the complete fulfillment of Dr. King’s dream– our incarceration, HIV, and dropout rates tell us it is not. However, this must be the beginning of the realization of the dream of equality in America!
And so…we celebrate!
